With a firmware update, two of our electronic load series each receive a function upgrade.

Master-Slave Operation – SCL Series

SCL seitlich Spiegelung

You can connect up to five identical single devices of the SCL high-current series to form an even more powerful master-slave system.

  • Full load current at short-circuit -> ideal for high current applications down to 0 V.
  • Operation via master device -> easy handling and monitoring
  • LabVIEW driver -> user-friendly interface for LabVIEW environments, integration and control
  • Control Tool -> control software and DAQ

5 devices of type SCL1801ZV then provide the following final values:

  • Voltage: 12 V
  • Maximum current: 6,000 A (5 x 1,200A)
  • Maximum power: 9,000 W – (1V x load current)

The parallel connection of these devices opens up new possibilities for high current applications and low voltage testing.

MPP Tracking – PMLA Series

HH PMLA Master

The multi-channel loads of the PMLA series can now also serve the MPPT function with the corresponding firmware.

This function is important for testing solar or photovoltaic modules by controlling the point of maximum power (MPP) of the connected device under test. This is done by varying the voltage set point in constant voltage mode. The recorded characteristics of the sweep operation and the MPP are displayed graphically on the UI.

After 37 years of continued growth and success, we are pleased to announce an important change in leadership at H&H.

The founders and previous directors of our company have decided to pass the torch of leadership to the next generation. This is a significant milestone in our family-run business. Johann Hackl’s daughter and Helmut Höcherl’s son take over the management and continue the tradition of our company: the development and production of electronic loads in top quality.

From a 2-Man Business to an Important Medium-Sized Company

This transition is a milestone in our history that underscores the impressive journey of our company: from humble beginnings as a 2-man company, we have grown into a firm with 47 dedicated employees.

Our new managing directors, Laura Hackl-Späth and Marco Höcherl, are not unknown faces in our company. They have spent many years of their professional careers in our company and are therefore very familiar with the challenges and opportunities we face. With their experience and commitment, they intend to lead H&H successfully into the future and further strengthen our position in the industry.

Höcherl and Hackl Senior Remain With Us

Although the outgoing managing directors are relinquishing their management positions, they will continue to be available with their expertise as valuable advisors to both the young management level and the development team.

We are optimistic that exciting times lie ahead and look forward to a successful collaboration with you, our valued customers, stakeholders and partners.

New software helps our customers remotely control electronic DC loads via an intuitive user interface. This includes:

  • Operation and parameterization of the device functions: Operating mode and set value, list function, square wave and modulator function, discharge function and internal resistance measurement, MPP tracking.
  • Data acquisition
  • Data processing and graphical display

Example: list function definition

The tool is compatible with the following series (from the respective firmware version specified):

  • PLI (4.3.0)
  • PLI MR (1.0.0)
  • ERI (2.0.0)
  • SCL (1.0.0)
  • TRL (1.0.0)

GL und Burgermeister min

We experienced an extraordinary day last Saturday. On April 15, 2023 we opened our doors to show who we are, what we do at H&H and what an electronic load actually is.

Our employees from development and sales, manufacturing, quality assurance and support showed the development of our products in the load manufacture and also chatted a bit about personal experiences. Numerous visitors took advantage of this offer. We had the pleasure to welcome many business partners, neighbors, friends, employees’ families and guests from the community of Konzell (see picture: the H&H management with 1st, 2nd and 3rd mayor). But also (still) unknown visitors were interested in our work, and so we could exchange with like-minded people as well as meet new interesting people.

Many thanks to all visitors and staff who contributed to the success of this beautiful day!

PMLA Konfigurator EN

Electronic multi-channel loads from H&H can be equipped with up to 12 load modules (channels) of different power ratings in one 19″ unit on 2 U. A master unit provides user and data interfaces and controls several slave units with further load modules if required.

A maximum of 3 cooling units with up to 4 modules each, depending on the power, can be installed in one device.

To make it easier to assemble different load modules in the unit, we have designed an online configurator which we provide on the H&H website.

High-power electronic loads now also available as multi-range variants:

In addition to the proven models up to 1,500 W continuous power, the PLI MR series now also offers powerful models – up to 28.8 kW as standard – with multiple setting ranges. This allows a much better setting and measuring resolution to be achieved: Factor 4 for 4-range devices and approx. factor 10 for 2-range devices.

TRL front seitlich Klemmen

The DC loads of the TRL series feed the consumed energy back to the local mains supply.

They do not require a fixed installation for this purpose, but can simply be plugged into the wall socket. Because these loads also operate very quietly, they are perfect for the developer in the lab.

With three voltage classes of 80 V, 400 V and 1,200 V, all models have a maximum power of 1,000 W. The power consumed is fed back to the mains supply. This alone reduces power costs, and the environment is heated only minimally.

The optional I/O port provides analog and digital inputs for external control and outputs with status and monitor signals. Galvanic isolation prevents ground loops.

SCL seitlich Spiegelung

For testing high-current DUTs such as fuel cells, H&H has developed the new SCL series. These electronic DC loads stress the connected source with up to 1,200 A at a minimum input voltage of only 600 mV (standard models) or even from 0 V (SCL ZV).

In addition to static operation in CC, CP, CR and CV mode, the devices offer many functions for dynamic testing. From the classic list function to rectangular/PWM and modulation functions up to energy storage tests such as discharge function and internal resistance measurement, MPP tracking is also included in all devices.

NikoKrampusTobi

St. Nikolaus has given us special visitors today. Literally out of the fog he appeared on the H&H premises together with his already slightly frail helper Krampus. In line with Corona, the employees also went there and were read a story as well as the riot act.

Praise came from the managing director, who expressed his special thanks for the extraordinary commitment especially in the turbulent last months. As an alternative to a Christmas party, the employees were then treated to an exquisite brunch.

A great Christmas surprise!

QL seitlich Spiegelung

H&H presents the new generation of source-sinks. In a modern design with touchscreen operation, the QL series on the one hand replaces the proven NL series with equivalent model range, and on the other hand offers far more functionality.

As with its predecessor, the standard portfolio offers 2-quadrant models and 4-quadrant models up to 3,600 W, with 2-quadrant devices operating already at negative voltages from -1 V.

Source-sinks combine the functionality of power supply and electronic load and are therefore used wherever both are to be used synchronously, typically when testing energy storage devices, motors, chargers etc.
